November 9th, 2016. Proposition 64 is passed in California, legalizing adult-use Marijuana effective January 1, 2018. Cannabis has long been associated with California, specifically Northern California.

A 3 hour drive from San Francisco, Mendocino County, Humboldt County and Trinity County, also known as the Emerald triangle. This is widely regarded as the mecca for growing cannabis, in the world. Its rugged terrain makes it a place where, before legalization, you could grow marijuana plants, and hide them in the tall redwood trees or of the beaten path of a remote property. The Climate, similar to Sonoma County, is as ideal as it gets, giving the plants all the sun they can handle.
